After many years working in hospitality, I decided it was time for a change. I completed business and design courses at TAFE SA and applied for a position in SA Health. I wanted to work in administration management to leverage my highly organised nature and willingness to engage with people from diverse backgrounds and disciplines.
Every day is different. I could be sitting on an interview panel looking for some of the best doctors to join the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network Obstetrics and Gynaecology or Paediatric teams, or I could be managing leave requests for medical staff and handling clinic and theatre amendments.
I perform many varied tasks from mandatory training and medical recruitment to rosters and professional development claims.
I love that my job is constantly busy and keeps me on my toes. I want to ensure that our patients receive the best possible care from the medical practitioners I assist in hiring.
I am proud to have been able to assist many junior training doctors who have completed many years of training to become staff specialists.
I do what I do because I know that the work I am performing is important, and I appreciate working with such a diverse group of passionate people.
One of the main benefits of working in the public sector is being able to progress to more senior positions. I enjoy working for the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network as it helps the community and has great working conditions.
I was born and bred in Adelaide and have never had the desire to leave this beautiful city and lifestyle to look for alternative employment.
